Call For Nominations

The St. John Constituency Council is inviting nominations for persons interested in being recommended for an award at its inaugural awards ceremony to be held in January 2012.  The awards are open to all residents of the constituency of St. John in the categories of:

  1. Unsung Hero
  2. Agriculture
  3. Corner Stone
  4. Community Group
  5. Education
  6. Sports
  7. Performing Arts and Culture

Nomination forms may be collected from the Constituency Council Office at Gall Hill Welfare Office, Gall Hill, St. John, the post office at Four Roads, downloaded here on the Council website (See the attachment at the end of this article) and various community and church organizations.

The closing date for nominations is November 15, 2011.  For further details please contact the office at 433-0060.

 

 The Categories of Awards

  1. Unsung Hero – this person must have made a contribution to his or her community willingly without cause for payment or recognition.  The individual has or continues to make a valuable contribution to community empowerment.
  2. Agriculture – this individual is one who continues to build and sustain the agricultural sector not only in St. John but by extension their contribution has made a significant impact to the country’s production.
  3. Corner Stone – this person must have given at least 25 years of service to their community.  In addition, this individual should be one that is well respected and admired for their contribution to the development of their community and or constituents.
  4. Community Group – the group that has exemplified what it means to have created an impact on the development of all aspect of the lives of the constituents of St. John within the last 5 – 10 years.
  5. Education – this category has two components:
    1. Students under 20 years of age who have not only excelled academically but continues to make it in the educational arena.
    2. An individual who has for the past 15 years or continues to make an impact on the educational development of the people of St. John.
  6. Sports – the individual(s) who have excelled in a specific sport and has been an ambassador not only for their parish or their country at the local, regional and international Levels.
  7. Performing Arts and Culture – the individual who has been a source of inspiration and upliftment for the parish in the areas of Performing Arts and Culture.
