Melissa Browne, MSc.
Melissa Browne was born on June 1st 1982, to a loving family that strives for high ideals and possesses strong moral beliefs. This background helped to lay the foundation for her goals. She is passionate about working with people and the youth in particular. She enjoys helping others and aiding people to reach their highest potential.

Melissa attended the University of the West Indies and attained a BSc. in Sociology and Psychology. She went on to attain her MSc. in Psychology at the University of Brunel in England in 2006. Her studies in the areas of Sociology and Psychology enable her to understand and relate to people very well.

She has been an advocate for anger management and has taught anger management programmes in several primary schools across Barbados. She has also volunteered her services to teaching children and adults with special needs about nature and the environment. She has learned how to coordinate and supervise activities and schedules through her various experiences.


Melissa is a Project Coordinator at the Ministry of Social Care, Constituency Empowerment and Urban Development. Her post is directly related to the establishment of the Constituency Councils across Barbados and is the link between the Ministry and the Project Advisory Team charged with designing and implementing the councils. Melissa is responsible for monitoring the commencement stages of the Project up to its completion and coordinates and manages the various services and outputs to be delivered by the Project Advisory Team.

She has always been interested in the interaction between Government and the people and wishes to contribute to efforts, which will facilitate the delivery of effective Government services to the people. Her upbringing has also made her naturally interested in the issues related to good governance, community issues and the provision of assistance to the less fortunate in the society. Her role as Project Coordinator for this exciting project allows her to link these interests.

Melissa brings a high level of enthusiasm and motivation to her work, has excellent people skills and is a committed team player. Outside of her work, Melissa enjoys sports, exercising and keeps abreast of current affairs.
